  “MARI”

Marco Botti, journalist and exhibition curator, "Fairy Tales"

2023

“Andrea Ciotti has always been sensitive to the call of nature and the marine environment fascinates him in a special way: in his paintings we perceive silences, the wind, the splashing of the waves, or the roar of a storm. This is not the sea of holidays: it is instead a primordial force that arouses ancestral sensations, sometimes of quiet and serenity, elsewhere of turbulent passions, in perfect agreement with the feelings that mark various moments of the author's life.

In Andrea then, art and music merge, so much so that this artist's paintings do not stop at the image but refer to the music of the natural world. Absolutely worth seeing."

“One of the most appreciated talents of his generation, Andrea Ciotti, returns to exhibit in the Tiber Valley. (...) The exhibition location is suitable for presenting many "fairy tales" of nature painted in oil, in which we note the increasingly conscious use of the palette knife which allows the color to be emphasized and the material to emerge from the paintings. (…) Andrea Ciotti proposes his original way of “feeling the landscape” to convey to the observer the living elements of the environment and the changes of the seasons. Admiring the works thus becomes a multisensory experience that goes beyond visual appearance. Ciotti's art is a work, as he defines it, of research, discovery and rediscovery of the sacred places of the soul", in which the artist creates vibrant works that remind human beings of the importance of an equal dialogue with Mother Nature

"Ciotti's music and painting are now one, the harmony, the rhythm, the vibration of music take concrete form in the painting, there is a deep bond between the two arts, the part of music that is in the rhythm, corresponds to the geometry of the painting, the harmony of the notes, to the range of colours. The time of painting is for Ciotti the time of music, an absolute time, monochrome, being here and now, the human existence’s state of immanence. Nature is the place of primordial visions and music, where the sound of silence, the vibrations of the wind, the roar of a stream, the stormy sea, the quiet of the plains, are rhythms, accents, melodies, pauses, which are made musical scores of a polychromatic symphony, dream, painting, imagination. Ciotti's painting, materic, played on contrasts of vibrant colors, sometimes unreal, transports us to the melodies of Creation through surreal but always sublime visions"

"... then I will say that we are faced with a creative artist who expresses himself with spontaneous joy and with ancestral instinct, putting thoughts, reasoning and emotions that populate his tumultuous soul and his surreal imagery on canvas." Exposed surreal and fairytale seas, result of a precise recent research. A solitary and evocative sea, the one that everyone would like to be next to. The sea loved by the people of the hinterland but also by those of the Riviera as it is devoid of the useless and noisy tourist and holiday frills. One could also say it is a timeless sea, the result of the often nocturnal work of a sensitive creative artist who finds his profound inspiration in listening to music capable of reviving the most vibrant emotions of the portrayed situations. Rough or flat, we are facing opposite sides of the same coin. The waves, whatever their intensity, end up leaving the same flat sand on the shoreline, a perfect slate for those who, like Ciotti, chase and pursue emotions; he is in fact a creative artist capable of listening to various energies that he develops through various artistic languages, both pictorial and musical.”

The Valtiberina artist exhibits his personal homage to Mother Nature with a series of landscapes and glimpses executed with rare sensitivity. This is how vibrant works are born, made of natural environments freed from human presence, in which the emotions transmitted by the various moments of the day, but also by the colours and the changing of the seasons, return a dialogue on equal terms with what surrounds us. For a painter, who is also a musician, it is almost natural to transfer harmony and rhythm into his works. Ciotti offers the viewer the opportunity to "hear" the sounds and melodies of creation, far from the din that increasingly envelops our daily lives "

“While visiting the Andrea Ciotti exhibition the attention is pleasantly struck by the rhythmic perspective settings, the variations of the monochromatic mixture, with which he manages to create atmospheres of refined enchantment. The images are born from a delicate play of luministic transparencies, characterized by a sober pictorial  representation. "
